Abstrakt
An important step for improving processes in the manufacturingindustry it to combine data from real-world entities and perform
meaningful business logic with them. However, this seemingly trivial
problem becomes intractable in a distributed deployment of devices, services,
and controlling processes. In this paper, we outline the available
sources of solution for this problem and focus on the Enterprise Service
Bus (ESB) approach to combine real-world events and business processes.
In doing so, we compare available ESB implementations based on several
functional and non-function requirements.
Two novel contributions of this paper are: (a) an elaborate comparison
of the most widely available and used ESB implementations, and (b)
showcasing a prototype for solving a real-world process control in the
manufacturing domain.
